WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute adds restorative therapy for back pain

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute in Morgantown, W.Va., added restorative neurostimulation therapy for low back pain, according to an Oct. 22 news release.

Manish Ranjan, MD, performed the first procedure using the ReActiv8 system. The device is placed outside the spine next to nerves that control the multifidus muscle, which can affect lower back pain. 

The implantation is done outpatient, and patients control the system.
