The Milwaukee-based institute was formed by the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert Health, both based in Milwaukee, and Children’s Wisconsin in Wauwatosa. It aims to advance treatments of disorders affecting the brain, spine, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system. It also plans to align and expand the neuroscience and spine service lines of its partner organizations.
Dr. Kurpad, a professor and chair of neurosurgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, started his new role Jan. 7. He is charged with overseeing the center’s strategy, growth and operations in collaboration with associated clinical departments and programs and the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Neuroscience Research Center and research enterprises. He is also tasked with forming a team of hundreds of faculty and staff with expertise in neuroscience and spine.
