Willis Knighton Bossier in Bossier City, La., earned Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana recognition as a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery.
The Blue Distinction program recognizes hospitals and ASCs showing expertise in patient safety and deliver better health outcomes, according to an Oct. 22 news release. Quality assessments are based on measures developed in partnership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
For spine surgery, designation facilities have an average of 28% fewer readmissions and 29% fewer complications within 90 days after procedures.
Blue Distinction Centers for Spine Surgery also need full accreditation from at least one national organization, enhanced recovery after surgery protocols, low mortality rates and participation in Louisiana Blue’s BlueCard Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Network.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
