The 5,500-square-foot unit features 12 beds and is staffed by a medical team that includes neurointensivists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, critical care nurses, anesthesiologists, respiratory therapists, social workers, physical therapists and clinical pharmacologists. Manjunath Markandaya, MD, is the medical director of the Neuromedicine ICU.
The unit will treat patients suffering from neurological disorders, including brain and spinal tumors as well as traumatic brain injury.
