University of Buffalo neurosurgery residency program ranks among top 20: 5 notes

The department of neurosurgery at the University of Buffalo ranked among the top 20 academically productive neurosurgery residency programs, based on a Journal of Neurosurgery article, according to buffalo.edu.

The ranking was established by the analysis of total publications and citations between 2009 and 2013 by faculty from 103 neurosurgery residency programs.

 

Here are five notes:

 

1. The neurosurgery department ranked 17th.

 

2. Thirteen faculty members compose the neurosurgery department, a staff number that is smaller than the other residency programs ranked.

 

3. The faculty members were responsible for 146 publications and acquired 2,812 citations.

 

4. Assistant professor of neurosurgery, Jody Leonardo, MD, heads the residency program.

 

5. University of California, San Francisco, UCLA and University of Pittsburgh ranked as the top three neurosurgery residency programs.
