Dr. Wilkins served as chief of the neurosurgery division at Durham, N.C.-based Duke University from 1976 to 1996, and he was director of academics in the neurosurgery department from 2012 to 2014 at UNC School of Medicine. The lectureship was established to commemorate Dr. Wilkins’ lifelong commitment to educating neurosurgeons, according to the report.
