The University of California San Diego earned another Gold Seal of Approval for advanced certification in spine surgery from The Joint Commission.
The health system was the first in California to earn the certification in 2022, according to a March 24 news release. Since the first certification, UC San Diego standardized treatment protocols across all departments, expanded data collection and enhanced post-operative pain management.
To qualify for advanced certification in spine surgery, organizations have to follow specific care protocols, clinical guidelines and participate in the American Spine Registry. Sites also have to track key performance metrics.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
