The first patients at UHealth–University of Miami Health System have been enrolled in a trial to determine the clinical value of Aclarion’s Nociscan technology for chronic low back pain.
The randomized, 300-patient study will test whether Nociscan, which uses MR spectroscopy and AI to identify painful spinal discs, can improve surgical outcomes, according to a Sept. 25 system news release.
Other participating hospitals and health systems include Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, Advocate Health of Charlotte, N.C., Texas Back Institute in Plano and University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Aclarion expects interim results in the second quarter of 2026.
