Addison Wood, DO, PhD, of Tulsa (Okla.) Bone & Joint recently performed the first robotic spine surgery in Tulsa at St. Francis Hospital.
Dr. Wood used the Globus Exelsius E3D and GPS system, which provides 3D imaging and robotic guidance to improve implant placement and support minimally invasive techniques. St. Francis Hospital is the city’s first facility to offer robotic spine surgery, according to a FOX23 report.
The technology lowers blood loss and radiation exposure, allows for faster recovery and improves patient outcomes compared to traditional methods, according to the report.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
