Top lumbar spine component manufacturers, by popularity

Medtronic is the most commonly used lumbar component manufacturer in the U.S., according to the 2025 American Spine Registry, a partnership between the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

The inaugural report reviewed procedures performed between 2015 and 2023, collecting data on 230,159 lumbar spine procedures, 112,683 cervical spine procedures and patient-reported outcome measures, according to a Feb. 20 news release.

The most commonly used lumbar component manufacturing companies and their share of the market between 2015 and 2023: 

1. Medtronic: 53.6%

2. Globus Medical: 23.5%

3. Johnson & Johnson (DePuy Synthes): 23%

4. Baxter: 16.9%

5. Stryker: 13.5% 

6. MTF Biologics: 10.2% 

7. LifeNet Health: 9.5% 

8. Integra LifeSciences: 9% 

9. RTI Surgican: 4.5%
