The wife of late Dr. Paul Kalanithi publishes his book on living with dying

Stanford neurosurgeon Paul Kalanithi, MD, died from lung cancer in 2015 at age 37, according to abc 7 News.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Dr. Kalanithi was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer when he was 36 years old.

 

2. Before his death, Dr. Kalanithi was writing a book about his experience of living with the knowledge of an inevitable early death.

 

3. His wife, Lucy Kalanithi, MD, also of Stanford Medical Center, published her late husband’s book, When Breath Becomes Air.

 

4. The couple had a daughter, Cady, in July 2014. Dr. Kalanithi passed away eight months later.
