Trudy Maurer, CEO of the Spine Network of California, says the publication of bad outcomes from spinal surgery might lead some patients to believe there isn’t a safe intervention available for them, even if they would benefit from surgery. The campaign aims to dispel some of these misconceptions.

In order to join the Spine Network, California surgeons are required to complete spine fellowship training and perform more than 100 spine surgeries a year. The organization is able to facilitate appointments with spine surgeon members across the state.
