Here are five key notes on the event:
1. The Spine Foundation will host “A Weekend to Remember” event with a biologics in spine course, cocktail reception, golf tournament and gala to support U.S. veterans.
2. All proceeds from the event will be donated to research in collaboration with the North American Spine Foundation, RAND Corporation and National Association of Veteran-Serving Organizations.
3. The event is expected to raise more than $125,000 with more than 400 guests in attendance. Guests include business leaders, politicians, spine specialists and medical professionals.
4. “Spine Ability Hero” awards are presented during the gala to two veterans who “demonstrate the potential of every veteran and who are making a meaningful difference in the world. Matt Harris, MD, founder and director of the Joint Preservation and Limb Reconstruction Center in Jupiter, Fla., is the chair of the golf tournament.
5. Wellington Hsu, MD, will teach the biologics course. He is a professor of orthopedic surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
