A growing market

According to Vantage Market Research, the global artificial disc replacement market is expected to reach $1.3 billion by 2030. One of the biggest drivers of this growth is the increased adoption of disc replacement.

The leaders in the disc replacement market include Medtronic, Orthofix, Globus Medical and Aesculap.

Expanded payer coverage

In February, a payer in Tennessee added coverage for Centinel Spine’s Prodisc L implant. Then in March, the largest commercial payer in Washington added coverage for the implant.

The rise of cervical disc replacements

Cervical disc replacement increased significantly from 2011 and 2021, according to a study published in The Spine Journal. Cervical disc replacements rose by 654.24% between 2011 to 2019, though it has since plateaued.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
