Researchers analyzed fusion status for 252 patients who had interbody fusion with CBA. After 12 months overall fusion success rates were 98.1% with the anterior approach, 100% for the lateral approach and 97.9% for the posterior approach. After two years the overall fusion success rate for fusion success was 97.9%, 100.0%, and 98.8% for anterior, lateral, and posterior approaches, respectively.
The study concluded, “CBA represents an attractive alternative to autograft alone, reporting a high rate of successful fusion and clinical outcomes across various surgical approaches.”
