The ASR, which was formed through a partnership between American Association of Neurological Surgeons and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, will collect quality outcomes data from participating patients, according to a May 31 news release.

Data from consenting patients will be aggregated, and BCBSA will use the metrics in its process to evaluate and designate Blue Distinction Centers for spine surgery.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons formed its collaboration with BCBSA  in May.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
