Here are five key notes:
1. Dr. Cone was arrested on child sexual assault and indecency with a child by sexual contact charges Dec. 21, 2017. The alleged sexual assault incidents, which are being tried, took place in October 2017.
2. The parents of the child who accused the neurosurgeon are suing Dr. Cone for more than $1 million.
3. Several of Dr. Cone’s other patients have come forward since the arrest accusing the neurosurgeon of similar abuse. However, statute of limitation laws prohibit them from suing Dr. Cone.
4. The Texas Medical Board noted three patients have come forward accusing Dr. Cone of exhibiting sexually inappropriate behavior throughout examinations.
5. Dr. Cone’s office closed Nov. 29, 2017. His medical license is under temporary suspension and will remain that way until the Texas Medical Board takes further action.
