Medical City Fort Worth (Texas) recently added a motion-preserving procedure for lumbar spinal stenosis and degenerative spondylolisthesis, according to an Aug. 20 news release shared with Becker’s.

The approach involves decompression of the spinal nerved and them placement of a mechanical implant to stabilize the spine. Unlike spinal fusion, the technique allows for controlled flexion, extension, and rotation of the spine.

“This new option reflects our commitment to providing leading-edge care that enhances outcomes and quality of life,” John Hoover, Medical City Fort Worth CEO, said in the release. “Patients suffering from debilitating back and leg pain now have access to a solution that preserves motion and supports faster recovery.”

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
