Researchers analyzed a total of 1,712 IVDs from 433 donors. There were 306 male and 127 female donors, and 366 donors were considered white. For donors of all ages, the degeneration was significantly faster at L5/S1. There were no significant differences between males and females on degeneration, while African ethnicity was associated with a lower Thompson score at several levels.
