Spine surgeon speaker spotlight: Dr. Hazem Eltahawy

Hazem Eltahawy, MD, has experience in multiple countries and has been a leader in spine surgery since he began practicing in 2005. 

He completed a spine fellowship at Wayne State University in Detroit, a neuro-oncology and functional neurosurgery fellowship at University of Toronto, Canada, a clinical and research fellowship in London and a neurosurgery residency at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt.

Dr. Eltahawy’s career has been marked by many firsts. He was the first to perform deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease at the Detroit Medical Center in 2005. He performed Michigan’s first 2-level disc replacement in 2007, advanced Stealth Mazor X Robotic spinal fusion in 2019, along with many more debuts.

He also earned multiple honors for his work including Top Doctor awards and the Award of Excellence for his work as president of the Michigan Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. Eltahawy is speaking at Becker’s 22nd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, set for June 19-21 at the Swissotel Chicago.
