Spine surgeon named chief medical officer of Loyola Medical Group

Alexander Ghanayem, MD, was named chief medical officer of Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola Medical Group.

Dr. Ghanayem is chair of Loyola Medicine’s department of orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation, according to a Feb. 15 news release. He has held that role since 2016, and he joined Loyola in 1995.

Dr. Ghanayem’s clinical expertise is in a variety of spine conditions, including the cervical and lumbar spine. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers and presented more than 150 abstracts. He serves on Loyola Medicine’s finance committee and is chair of the compensation committee.

Loyola medical group is a physician-led team with more than 850 physicians.
