The move to donate his intellectual property comes from the need for improved spine care globally, according to a Sept. 24 news release. Dr. Abbasi has traveled to multiple countries in recent years to teach surgeons the oblique lateral lumbar interbody fusion technique.
Dr. Abbasi’s OLLIF technique, also called the Trans-Kambin OLLIF procedure, requires a handful of instruments instead of needing new multimillion-dollar investments in technology.
