Spine surgeon completes more than 100 cases in Kenya, sponsors training center

Craig Humphreys, MD, an Alaskan spine surgeon, has performed more than 100 surgeries for children in Kenya and has plans to establish a training center in the country.

Over the last nine years, he completed the free surgeries at AIC Cure International Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya, according to an April 8 news release shared with Becker’s

He also staged the groundbreaking for a housing complex in Kijabe that will be used to train local spine surgeon fellows. The first of three buildings will be completed in early 2023, and donors for the project include Medtronic and Stryker.

Dr. Humphreys founded and practices at Kenai Spine in Soldotna, Alaska, the release said.
