Vamsi Kancherla, MD, is a spine surgeon with Specialty Orthopaedics in Gainesville, Ga., and he’s been a pioneer in endoscopic spine.
He performed the first all-uniportal endoscopic lumbar fusion in Georgia in 2025 and has been learning endoscopic techniques since 2024.
“We’ve seen this evolution occur in other parts of the musculoskeletal system,” he said. “We’ve seen it in the shoulder, the knees, the hips and even the ankle,” he told Becker’s in a 2025 interview. “Prior to the era of arthroscopy, it was mini-open or wide-open, and those sub specialties evolved. It was a matter of time before spine evolved into that same chapter.”
Dr. Kancherla earned his medical degree at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his residency at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Bethlehem, Pa. Along with endoscopic spine surgery, he has expertise in disc replacement, minimally invasive spine surgery and robot-assisted spine surgery.
Dr. Kancherla is speaking at Becker’s 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, set for June 11-13 at the Swissotel Chicago.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
