Swiss medtech company Neo Medical has commercially debuted its Neo Instant MIS Access platform in the U.S. for posterior thoracic, lumbar and sacral minimally invasive spine procedures.
The sterile-ready platform is designed to simplify minimally invasive surgery workflows by eliminating the need for capital equipment, reusable instrument inventories and reprocessing cycles, according to a July 6 news release. The company said the system is intended for use in hospitals and ASCs.
The platform can be prepared in less than 2 minutes and may reduce per-case operational costs by up to $2,500 compared with conventional minimally invasive surgery access systems. The technology may also improve operating room throughput in facilities with turnover constraints.
The U.S. launch expands Neo Medical’s spine surgery portfolio. The company plans to introduce the platform in Europe and other international markets following applicable regulatory approvals, according to the release.
