Spinal neurosurgeon enters 21st year on California hospital board

Neurosurgeon Abdallah Farrukh, MD, has been re-elected to the Antelope Valley Hospital board of directors, which he has served on since 2000, according to the Antelope Valley Press.

Three things to know:

1. Dr. Farrukh served as chief of surgery at the Lancaster, Calif.-based hospital in 1995 and chief of staff from 1996-99.

2. Born in Lebanon, he later moved to the U.S. and completed a general surgery residency at Union Memorial Hospital and a neurosurgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, both in Baltimore.

3. Dr. Farrukh was sworn into his sixth term on the board on Dec. 4.
