Scoliosis Research Society names Drs. Peter Newton, Sebastien Pesenti Whitecloud Award winners

The Scoliosis Research Society honored two surgeons with the 2017 Whitecloud Award at the Scoliosis Research Society’s 2017 International Meeting on Advanced Spine Techniques in South Africa.

Peter Newton, MD, received the clinical award and Sebastien Pesenti, MD, received the basic science award. Dr. New ton received the award for his paper titled “2-Year Outcomes of Spinal Growth Tethering vs. Posterior Spinal Fusion for Scoliosis Flexibility vs. Reliability.” Dr. Pesenti received the award for his paper titled “Changes in Cervical Facets Orientation During Child Growth.”

 

Dr. Newton is the chief of the orthopedic and scoliosis division at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego and a clinical professor at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. He has published more than 140 studies throughout his career.

 

Dr. Pesenti is a surgeon in the department of pediatric orthopedics at Timone Children’s Hospital at Aix Marseille University in France.
