Scoliosis Research Society gets $3M gift from late patient

Milwaukee-based Scoliosis Research Society received a $3 million gift from a late Delaware woman who had the disease, Milwaukee Business News reported Feb. 18.

Mary Ellen Northrop had severe scoliosis and died last year. She had requested that the donation be used to fund research on the causes, treatments and potential cure for idiopathic scoliosis.

SRS was founded in 1996 and is an international society focused on research and education in spinal deformities. In 2021, SRS dedicated $300,000 to spine research.
