Scoliosis Research Society establishes award in honor of Dr. Douglas Burton

The Scoliosis Research Society created a new award in honor of Douglas Burton, MD, to recognize the Best Adult Deformity Article in the Spine Deformity Journal.

Dr. Burton is an SRS Lifetime Achievement Award winner and made numerous controbutions to spinal deformity care, according to a Jan. 23 news release. He has been a member of the SRS since 2004.

The first paper to win the  Douglas Burton award was “Proximal junctional failure after surgical instrumentation in adult spinal deformity: biomechanical assessment of proximal instrumentation stiffness.”
