Scoliosis Research Society Announces 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award Winners

Spine surgeons Denis S. Drummond, MD, and Ronald L. DeWald, MD, are the Scoliosis Research Society’s 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award winners, according to an AAOS Now report.

Dr. Drummond is the emeritus chief of orthopedic surgery at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He has a professional interest in congenital anomalies, instability of the cervical spine and scoliosis. He previously served as president of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Study Group.

Dr. DeWald has been a spine surgeon at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago with a professional focus on scoliosis, the aging spine and degenerative conditions. He is a former president of SRS and started the first year long spinal deformity fellowship accredited by ACGME.
