The scientists compared patients and their brain activation patterns with a healthy control group and older people, the report said. Those with spinal cord injuries had similarities in brain activation as the older control group and differences compared to the age-matched control group.
Although the study had limitations in its sample size and level of injury, it added to the understanding of spinal cord injuries on cognition, the report said.
