Munster, Ind.-based Community Hospital, an affiliate of Powers Health, has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in Spine Surgery.

To earn the certification, Community Hospital underwent an onsite review that evaluated related certification standards, including clinical information management, program management and clinical care, according to a May 28 press release.

Reviewers examine every step of the patient care process, from presurgical consultations to intraoperative, hospitalization or ASC admission, rehabilitation activities and follow-up visits.

Community Hospital previously earned the certification, which is given in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, in 2015.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
