Continued innovation in spine techniques and technology are reshaping what the "gold standard" will be.

Carmel-based Indiana Spine Group added three physicians to its practice, according to an Aug. 14 news release. 

Using a cellular bone allograft yielded high lumbar spinal fusion rates across anterior, lateral, and posterior surgical approaches, according to a study published in the July 2024 issue of the International Journal of Spine Surgery.

Neurosurgeon Bhargav Desai, MD, joined Mercyhealth in Rockford, Ill., the system said in an Aug. 12 news release.

Enabling technologies are becoming more entrenched in and more widely adopted in spine surgery,  but there is a concern that the next generation of surgeons may rely too heavily on new technology to help them through complex surgeries.
