Medtech companies SpineGuard and Omnia Medical completed the transfer of SpineGuard assets and entered into an exclusive distribution agreement for PediGuard devices.

Omnia Medical will have full responsibility over the commercialization of PediGuard devices in the U.S., integrating the devices into its surgical implant portfolio, according to an April 13 news release from SpineGuard.

The two companies first partnered in 2020 under a U.S. non-exclusive distribution agreement. In 2022, SpineGuard and Omnia Medical co-developed a pedicle screw system for spine surgery and a cannulated probe.

Under the terms, SpineGuard will continue to design, manufacture and supply PediGuard devices for Omnia Medical.

The addition of PediGuard expands Omnia Medical’s portfolio across a number of spine indications, including minimally invasive and outpatient treatments.

The agreement allows SpineGuard to reduce structural costs and focus on the development of its DSG technology platform, the release said.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
