Olympic diver Matty Lee has spine surgery

British Olympic diver Matty Lee had back surgery that will keep him from the 2024 Paris Olympics, he said in a March 27 Instagram post.

Mr. Lee, who is from the U.K., had a lumbar discectomy, the post said. The procedure addressed chronic pain from a bulging disc. He didn’t say where he had the surgery or who operated on him.

Mr. Lee won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for the Men’s Synchronized 10m Platform event alongside Tom Daley.
