The surgery, conducted Aug. 16 in Bay Shore, N.Y., utilized the Augmedics xvision spine system, according to an Oct. 15 press release.

The patient had undergone a spine surgery 10 months earlier that was complicated by postoperative infection. He then faced back pain, difficulty walking and leg weakness.

Neurosurgeon Yike Jin, MD, was the lead surgeon for the procedure. He collaborated with his partner Ann Liu, MD, on the case.

Drs. Jin and Liu have been using the technology since 2020 during their time at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
