A medical team at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Ga., has completed the system’s first ultra-minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery.

The procedure was performed by orthopedic surgeon Vamsi Kancherla, MD, using Arthrex endoscopic spine technology, according to a June 18 news release.

The minimally invasive procedure eliminates the need for a large incision, minimizing disruption and damage to nearby muscles. It can often be performed in the outpatient setting, letting patients go home the same day.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
