Northeast Spine and Sports Medicine under investigation following data breach

Point Pleasant, N.J.-based Northeast Spine and Sports Medicine is under investigation following a December data breach.

On Oct. 23, NESSM filed notice of a data breach with the Attorney General of Maine, according to an Oct. 24 press release. 

The breach occurred between late December 2023 through early January 2024. NESSM immediately launched an investigation, according to the release. 

The investigation determined that leaked patient information included names, Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, medical data, insurance information, payment information, medical records numbers, health plan beneficiary numbers, account numbers and other sensitive information.
