North Oaks Health welcomed neurosurgeons Dani Terrell, MD, and S. Garrett Whipple-Bones, MD, to its North Oaks Neurosurgery Clinic in Hammond, La., earlier this month.
Dr. Terrell and Dr. Whipple-Bones recently completed neurosurgical oncology fellowships at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla. Dr. Terrell focuses on robotic-assisted surgery and complex brain and spine conditions, while Dr. Whipple-Bones specializes in advanced surgery for brain, spine and nerve tumors. Both will also practice general and emergency neurosurgery at the system.
The hires expand a brain and spine tumor program aimed at keeping specialized cancer care local, a priority for the independent system serving Southeast Louisiana.
Both physicians completed neurosurgery residencies at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. They join neurosurgeon Edward “EJ” Burkhardt, MD, at the clinic.
North Oaks Health is the largest independent, community-owned health system in Louisiana, with 357 beds and a Level II trauma center.
