Dr. Stamates specializes in spine and brain tumor surgery, endoscopic skull base surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery, among other procedures.
She graduated from the Ohio State University in Columbus, completed a residency at the University of Chicago and a fellowship in endoscopic and skull base neurosurgery at North Shore University Health System in Evanston, Ill.
She joins Charles Haworth, MD, medical director of neurosurgery at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The hospital plans to add a third neurosurgeon soon.
A $28 million facility, set for completion in May 2021, will house the hospital’s residency program and a neuroscience institute.
