New York neurosurgeon earns ‘Doctor of the Decade’ accolade

The International Association of Top Professionals named Robert Holtzman, MD, a neurosurgeon at Neurological Surgery PC in New Hyde Park, N.Y., Doctor of the Decade for 2021, according to a Dec. 9 news release.

Dr. Holzman, board-certified in neurosurgery, neurology and psychiatry, was recognized for over 40 years of practice as a neurosurgeon and clinical professor.

Last year, IAOTP honored him with its Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his leadership and commitment to the field.

Dr. Holzman’s spine surgical expertise includes total disc replacement, complex and minimally invasive spine surgery and spinal decompression with stabilization and fusions.

Throughout his career, he served as attending neurosurgeon at several New York hospitals, including Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

He is an active lecturer and author, and was the editor for The Tethered Spinal Cord, Surgery of the Spinal Cord: The Potential for Regeneration and Recovery and Spinal Instability, among other publications.
