He is one of three physician leaders who took department leadership, according to a March 24 news release. Dr. Yao is a neurosurgeon with expertise in complex brain and spine surgery.
Additional leadership appointments are Troy Callahan, MD, as chief of plastic surgery and Bryan Ho, MD, as chief of otolaryngology.
Dr. Yao took the appointment in 2021 and will serve a three-year term.
