New England Baptist Hospital to create spine institute with $3M donation — 5 highlights

Boston-based New England Baptist Hospital plans to establish a new spine institute, according to Boston Business Journal.

1. New England Baptist will open the new institute with a $3 million donation, the largest in the hospital’s history.

 

2. A hospital trustee, Jeffrey Libert donated the money to create the Libert Family Spine Institute. Mr. Libert told Boston Business Journal he and his family have experienced back problems throughout the years, and wanted to make a difference for others suffering from pain.

 

3. This donation comes on the heels of Mr. Libert’s previous $2 million donation for medical education and research.

 

4. The Libert Family Spine Institute will offer a space for comprehensive spine care under one roof.

 

5. New England Baptist will call on physicians from its spine, physical medicine and pain programs for insight on effective uses of the money.
