New device helps spinal cord injury patients stand, move: 3 things to know

Matia Robotics’ Tek Robot Mobilization Device is providing some spinal cord injury patients with mobility, according to CBS New York.

Here are three things to know:

 

1. The device is similar to a Segway and is designed to help people in wheelchairs stand and move.

 

2. Innovations Health Services sells the device, which has almost sold out through the first quarter 2016.

 

3. The price presents an obstacle, however, as the Tek RMD costs about $20,000 per unit.
