Dr. Davis is remembered for various accomplishments. He performed live-saving surgery on Stevie Wonder when the musician suffered a car accident.
Throughout his career, Dr. Davis served as president of the Goodwill Industries of Northwest, N.C., and the Institute for the Blind. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving at Washington, D.C.-based Walter Reed General Hospital as a neurosurgeon.
Dr. Davis served as an instructor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston, Salem, N.C. He was a president of the Neurological Society of America and the local medical society. Dr. Davis earned his medical degree from University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville.
