Neurosurgeon Jocelyne Bloch, MD, and neuroscientist Grégoire Courtine, PhD, co-direct their lab, NeuroRestore, and are working to use artificial intelligence-driven implants to help spinal cord injury patients. They began working together in 2012.
In 2020, their implant helped a man who severed his spinal cord in an accident stand and walk with support for as long as two hours, according to a Feb. 11 report from The Post. Now they’re hoping to increase access to their therapies through Onward Medical, a company the pair co-founded.
The duo was previously included on Time’s 2024 100 Most Influential People list.
