Neurosurgeon joins newly created medical advisory board — 3 things to know

Xcelerate, an information technology and services company, has added neurosurgeon Dilantha Ellegala, MD, to its newly formed board of directors.

Three things to know:

1. Dr. Ellegala is founder of Sonospine, a company specializing in ultrasonic treatments for spinal conditions. He holds several patents for ultrasound technology.

2. He has traveled to Tanzania on many occasions, where he has trained healthcare workers and performed brain and spine surgery.

3. Dr. Ellegala is a “true humanitarian” that will guide Xcelerate through its acquisition and product development efforts, CEO Michael O’Shea said.
