Here are four things to know.

1. The American Association of Neurological Surgeons established NeuroPoint Alliance in 2008 to collect, analyze and report on nationwide clinical data from neurosurgery practices.

2. The QOD is the nationwide prospective clinical registry for neurosurgical procedures and practice patterns. The QOD’s primary objective is to track the quality of surgical care for the most common neurosurgical procedures, as well as to provide individual surgeons, practice groups, hospitals and health systems with an infrastructure for analyzing the quality of the neurosurgical care they deliver.

3. At Dartmouth-Hitchcock, the QOD is a joint effort of the Dartmouth Integrated Spine Care group, which includes pain physicians, neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons.

4. The three health systems join over 100 QOD participating centers, some of which have been collecting data since 2012.
