NASS encourages the consideration of new studies, continually adding to the scientific literature on vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. NASS supports the process surrounding the new guideline from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons recommending against vertebroplasty but declines to comment further on the decision.
However, the release does state that recommendations should be updated pending the publication of additional studies examining different populations, if the research reaches a different conclusion.
