In a letter to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, NASS provided data and recommendations on several topics, including Medicare expenditure growth, reducing national healthcare expenditures and the failure of sustainable growth rate and options for replacing the SGR. The letter also addressed specific value-based model proposals and incorporating value into physician payment systems.

“NASS stands ready to work with CMS and Congress to explore alternative payment systems focusing on value through development of demonstration projects and future participation in Congressional committee testimony, should it occur,” said Gregory Przybylski, MD, president of NASS, in the release.
